The
highway of life is given to many obstructions
which seem to impede one's journey.
A calamity in traffic which seems to promise an end to the pilgrimage;
Alternate routes which seem to take us off-course, or
Construction which seems to slow us down.
And yet it is in my Heart that each of these apparent obstacles
are nothing more than opportunities to learn to do things in a fresh way.
Still, it is a solitary venture.
Alone, somehow,
we face the difficulties of life without the comfort of motherly arms
which willingly take the troublesome moments
and replace them with gentle embraces
and sweet kisses.
There are moments in our travels when the "aloneness" of the
effervescence we
experience is almost more than we can bear.
Spending the dark twilight at a rest stop awaiting the morning sun,
we often awaken to the storm clouds,
the thunder and the lightning
which seem to threaten our journey even more.
It is in those still moments,
in the darkest hours,
on the most lonely stretches of road
that we find ourselves the most needy and yet,
here in the murkiness is the strength which drives us forth.
It is on this fuel that our journey continues
down the highway of life.
