Wolf
When you are lost in a benighted forest any light is welcome.
Yet you turn away from the fire in my eyes.
The pack runs as one, for that we are branded cowards.
Would you face a buffalo alone with only your strength to aid you?
Hide in your rolling wagons, then slaughter the herds.
Who is the bolder? Is that a pack or a lone warrior?

My call freezes the marrow in your bones.
For when I speak it is with the voice of your ancestors.
They knew me better, inviting me to share their camp.
We ran as one then, brothers under the sun.
Your father, our father, our kill, your kill.
The pack did not turn from you; man broke the bond.

When the dreamgiver rises; I call to her alone, 'Remember,' man hears the
word and shivers.
Who knows of your betrayal to our kind?
The pack kept the secret hidden, hoping one day you will return to the
council rock.
And under the crescented moon we will call her name together.
One voice calling out in the darkness, one wolf howling in the night.
And a man hearing; will turn from one pack to run with us.
